Viet Nam appreciates Singapore’s support for COVID-19 fight

VGP – Viet Nam appreciates Singapore’s support, especially medical equipment and supplies, for COVID-19 fight, said Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son during his phone conversation with Singaporean counterpart Vivian Balakrishnan.

As Viet Nam is now in desperate need of vaccines for its citizens and foreign nationals living and working in the country, Bui suggested Singapore to share its idle vaccines with Viet Nam to help increase vaccination rate, reboot the economy and prevent production and supply chains in the region.

He took the occasion to congratulate Singapore on becoming the first country in the world to fully vaccinate 80 percent of its population.

Balakrishnan emphasized that Singapore always attaches importance to the strategic partnership with Viet Nam, pledging Singapore, in its capacity, stands ready to back neighboring countries, including Viet Nam.

The two foreign ministers agreed to foster cooperation in such fields like politics, economy, trade, investment, education and training in a bid to further consolidate and development the bilateral ties.

Both sides also agreed to soon organize the 14th political consultation between the two foreign ministries to review the two countries’ cooperation progress and prepare for upcoming high-level visits./.
