The MoU pointed out potential fields for bilateral cooperation, including refreshing legal documents on labor management, social security and labor relations, cooperation policies, job generation and corporate social responsibility (CSR).

Earlier, the two sides had held talks on labor-related issues. According to Minister Nguyễn Thị Kim Ngân, over the past time, Việt Nam and Denmark have closely cooperated in some fields, such as vocational training, labor safety and hygiene, social security assistance, and surveying enterprises’ resources and households’ access to development resources in rural areas.

In labor safety, Denmark has offered non-refundable aids to Việt Nam’s project on improving working conditions in four provinces. For three years (2005-2008), VND 16.6 billion were disbursed through providing industrial hygiene facilities, consulting, surveying and defining safety indices, supporting activities under the National Program on Labor Safety and Protection.

At the talks, the two sides agreed to further their cooperation in labor safety and hygiene, expand cooperation in preventing social evils and studying labor demands of Danish enterprises operating in Việt Nam, so as to train and supply a domestic labor force.
