PM asks for more medical workers to help COVID-19 hotspots

Specifically, doctors and nurses specializing in care and resuscitation should be mobilized and dispatched to such localities as Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Long An, Dong Thap, and Tien Giang provinces which have reported high infection rates. 

The Government chief tasked the ministry to be responsible for mobilizing and directing nationwide resuscitation training courses for medical workers. 

The Chairmen of municipal People Committees are in charge of creating favorable conditions for medical facilities to improve performance and accomplish the task.  

On August 1, the Government decided to allocate additional VND5.1 trillion (US$222 million) for purchase of medical equipment, biologicals, chemicals, and drugs for the pandemic prevention and control.

Earlier, on July 24, Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Truong Son, Head of the Special Standing Division of the Ministry of Health in Ho Chi Minh City, called on all healthcare workers, including medical students and retired doctors and nurses, to join hands in the country's fight against coronavirus in Ho Chi Minh City.

The Health Ministry on July 30 sent Dispatch No. 6140/BYT-KCB to Chairpersons of the People’s Committees of centrally-run cities and provinces regarding pooling the involvement of private medical examination and treatment establishments in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic. 

So far, over 6,000 medical workers had been deployed to Ho Chi Minh City – the current epicenter of Viet Nam’s fourth wave of COVID-19 resurgence./.
