Additional 3,201 new COVID-19 cases confirmed

The latest cases comprise three imported cases and 3,198 local infections in 20 localities, namely Ho Chi Minh City (1,997), Binh Duong (496), Dong Nai (189), Can Tho (119), Tien Giang (79), Da Nang (76), Vinh Long (50), Ha Noi (46), Binh Thuan (46), An Giang (17), Kien Giang (17), Binh Dinh (14), Ninh Binh (13), Don Thap (11), Dak Nong (ten), Nghe An (eight), Thanh Hoa (four), Ha Tinh (three), Lam Dong (two), and Gia Lai (one).

The locally-transmitted cases include 976 cases detected in the community.

Among the national patient tally, 155,242 are local infections, including 153,672 documented in 62 cities and provinces since April 27 when the fourth wave of COVID-19 resurgence began.

Four of the above localities have gone 14 days without community infection, namely Yen Bai, Dien Bien, Quang Ninh and Bac Kan.

As of late August 1, 6,415,219 vaccine doses were administered, with 659,064 people fully vaccinated.

The total recoveries were 43,157.

Among the current positive cases, 432 are being treated at intensive care units, of whom 18 are in critical health conditions, added the ministry./.
