The delivery is the sixth to Viet Nam in total, and the fourth in July, as part of the advance purchase agreement between AstraZeneca and Viet Nam Vaccine JSC (VNVC), with support from the Ministry of Health.

To date, the agreement has brought nearly 3.8 million doses to Viet Nam, equivalent to 41 percent of all AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine doses in the country. Approximately 9.3 million doses of AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine through the bilateral agreement, COVAX Facility and donations between governments, have been delivered into Viet Nam, accounting for 62 percent of all vaccine supplies in the country.

The Ministry of Health expressed thanks to the accelerated vaccine supply efforts of AstraZeneca and their partner VNVC, and other companies to help Viet Nam achieve its dual goals–containing the pandemic while ensuring economic development, said Director-General of Department of Planning–Finance, under the Ministry of Health, Nguyen Nam Lien.

Chairman and General Director, AstraZeneca Viet Nam and Asia Area Frontier Markets Nitin Kapoor affirmed that AstraZeneca will continue to partner with the Ministry of Health, World Health Organization, UNICEF and VNVC to deliver its jab to Viet Nam as quickly as possible so that local communities can soon return to their normal life and reunite with their families.

AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine was the first to be authorised and supplied in large quantities in Viet Nam, to support the Vietnamese Government’s national vaccination program.

According to the Ministry of Health, as of 29 July 2021, more than 5.3 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered across the country.
