Pham Minh Chinh sworn in as Viet Nam’s Prime Minister

VGP – All 479 legislators on Monday afternoon unanimously elected Pham Minh Chinh as the Prime Minister of the Socioalist Republic of Viet Nam for the 2021-2026 tenure.

A swearing-in ceremony for Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh was held immediately after the legislative body announced the election outcome.

Pham, aged 63, pledged to stay absolutely loyal to the nation, people and Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam and to exert great efforts to fulfill tasks entrusted by the Party, State and people.

In his inaugural remarks, PM Pham expressed sympathy to residents over the hardships, both materially and spiritually, they have suffered due to the imposition of social distancing and lockdown measures to contain COVID-19.

As protection of the public’s health, security and safety is the first and foremost goal, Pham emphasized the Government considers the fight against COVID-19 as the urgent and top task now.

He vowed to take concrete measures to reform the national administration system, create favorable environment for national development, accelerate decentralization of authority, promote activeness at all administrative levels, and combat corruption.

Pham committed to continue improving the socialist-oriented market economy institutions, with an immediate focus on removing barriers and bottlenecks against economic activities./.
