Viet Nam receives Cambodian medical supplies for COVID-19 prevention

VGP – A special flight carrying Cambodia-donated medical supplies for HCMC City, landed in Tan Son Nhat International Airport on Monday morning.

The medical supplies included one million face masks, 100,000 N95 masks, 100 automatic oxygen concentrators, US$200,000 cash donated by the Cambodian Government, US$100,000 sponsored by the Cambodian Red Cross (CRC) and US$50,000 donated by the Viet Nam-Cambodia Friendship Association (VCFA).

Addressing the reception ceremony, on behalf of the Royal Government of Cambodia and Cambodian people, Secretary of Cambodian State for the Ministry of Health Youk Sambath expressed sympathy and encouragement to HCMC - the hardest-hit locality in the latest wave of COVID-19 resurgence in Viet Nam.

The Secretary also reaffirmed the mutual support between the two countries during pandemic time which represent the symbol of solidarity, friendship and cooperation between two neighboring countries.

She was convinced that the timely support would contribute to help the city soon control disease, stabilize people’s lives, and restore production.

Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Duong Anh Duc thanked Prime Minister Samdech Hunsen, Royal Government and people of Cambodia for their support of Viet Nam in general and HCMC in particular.

Earlier, in May, Viet Nam supplied 800 ventilators, two million surgical masks, 300,000 N95 masks, and other medical equipment to Cambodia to support the country’s fight against COVID-19./.
