Viet Nam reports 45 new COVID-19 cases

VGP – The Ministry of Health confirmed 45 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, bringing the national patient tally to 2,910.

The latest patients comprise two Indian experts, 37 Vietnamese returnees, and six local residents, said the ministry.

The two Indian nationals took flight EK517 from India to Ha Noi on April 24.

They are being treated at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Ha Noi’s Dong Anh District.

The Vietnamese returnees were brought home from Poland (two), the Philippines (17), Indonesia (12), Japan (five), and Russia (one).

Meanwhile, the six local infection cases include a 28-year-old man who was repatriated from Japan on April 7 and underwent 14-day mandatory quarantine in the central city of Da Nang.

The man was announced to return to his home in the northern province of Ha Nam on April 22 after completing quarantine period and having tested negative for the virus thrice.

However, his father reported to local authorities on April 24 that his son developed symptoms like cough, fever and throat pain.

His mother, father, wife, child, and a relative contracted the virus from him./.
