Preparation for National Assembly poll in full swing

VNGOVNet –The Nationwide Conference on Election to the 12th National Assembly convened in Hanoi in the morning of February 9 where General Secretary of the Communist Party Nông Đức Mạnh was present and delivered a keynote speech.

The Conference was meant to set criteria of selecting deputies for election to the National Assembly, who should be "morally and ably good to serve people, and the cause of national renewal and international integration."

Addressing the Conference, General Secretary Nông Đức Mạnh insisted on realistic actions to make sure the coming 12^th National Assembly election run to the set targets while voters still exercise their suffrage.

Closing the day's session, NA Chairman Nguyễn Phú Trọng, Head of the 12^th National Assembly Election Council, requested the relevant agencies, ministries and local authorities to promptly prepare documents related to the election and start their pre-drafted election plans at their levels right from now in a scientific and successful manner.

The Conference works till February 10, 2007.
