State President Receives Chinese Defense Minister

The Vietnamese head of state made the above statement during his reception for Chinese Defense Minister and State Councilor Senior Lieutenant General Wei Fenghe at the Presidential Palace on April 26.

Nguyen welcomed Wei’s ongoing visit to Viet Nam, expressing the visit would actively contribute to advancing the relationship between the two countries.

The State President spoke highly of the outcomes of the talks held on April 25 between Vietnamese Defense Minister Phan Van Giang and his Chinese counterpart, saying that the successful cooperation between the two armies will help further promote the sound traditional friendship between the two Parties and the two countries for peace, stability, cooperation and development in each country and in the region and the world as well.

The two armies need to continue strengthening strategic trust and work together to make defense cooperation, fully and effective implement the signed agreements and cooperative mechanisms, Nguyen said.

He highly valued the two defense ministries’ determination to create a peaceful atmosphere between the two countries in general and in the East Sea in particular.

He affirmed that the substantial cooperation and the maintenance of a peaceful environment in the East Sea are favorable conditions for the two sides’ competent authorities to conduct dialogues and handle existing matters, especially sea-related issues.

Nguyen voiced support for China’s development and increasingly active and substantial contributions to peace, stability and development in the region and the world.

Amid the complicated evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic, the State President said both countries have effectively managed the pandemic, thus creating favorable conditions for the sides to facilitate the two-way trade that set new record of US$133 billion last year./.
