National Assembly Relieve Top State, Government Leaders

VGP – Legislators cast ballots to relieve Nguyen Xuan Phuc from his position as Prime Minister on Friday morning as part of the ongoing 11th meeting of the 14th-tenure National Assembly.

Phuc was elected Prime Minister for the 2016 – 2021 tenure at the first session of the 14th National Assembly.

He is expected to succeed Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong as the next State President of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam.

The election of new State President is scheduled to take place on April 5.

Also on Friday, the legislative body also approved the relief of Nguyen Phu Trong from his position as State President./.
