National Assembly election plans 184 constituencies

VGP – There will be 184 constituencies in the 15th National Assembly election, according to a new resolution adopted by the NA Standing Committee on March 4.

Out of the five centrally-run localities, HCMC and Ha Noi will have the largest number of constituencies with 10 each. HCMC will also have the biggest number of deputy seats with 30, followed by Ha Noi with 29.

Da Nang City will have two constituencies and six deputies. Can Tho and Hai Phong will have three constituencies each and seven and nine deputies, respectively.

Provinces with high population density rates included Thanh Hoa (with five constituencies and 14 elected deputies), Nghe An (with five constituencies and 13 elected deputies), Dong Nai (four constituencies and 12 elected deputies) and Binh Duong (four constituencies and 121elected deputies).

Viet Nam is planning to hold the elections for the National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels on May 23, 2021.

The 15th National Assembly for the 2021-2026 term will have no more than 500 members, of which 200 are expected to be full-time members.

Viet Nam is aiming for at least 35% of candidates for the national law-making body to be women with at least 18% to hail from ethnic minority communities./.
