Located within the Nomura Industrial Park in the northern seaport city, the plant was invested with US $61 million by the US GE Energy.

The project was licensed by the Hải Phòng People’s Committe in June 2008.

The investor pledged to recruit 500 local workers.

Since the 1960s, GE Energy has supplied power generating, transmitting and distributing technologies and services for many electricity projects in Việt Nam.

According to a recent survey conducted by the World Bank, Việt Nam has great potentials for wind power, estimated at 513,360 MW.
