Two new local COVID-19 cases bring national tally to 2,142

VGP – Viet Nam confirmed two new community infection cases of COVID-19 on Friday afternoon, bringing the national patient tally to 2,142.

The latest cases are residents in Ha Noi and Bac Ninh, according the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control.

Specifically, patient 2141 is a 25-year-old man in Bac Ninh’s Luong Tai District.

He contracted the virus from patient 1565 and has been quarantined since January 28.

The patient is being treated at the Bac Ninh General Hospital.

Patient 2142 is a 33-year-old woman in Ha Noi’s Me Linh District.

She contracted the virus from her workmate at the Z153 factory and has been quarantined since January 30.

The patient is being treated at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Ha Noi’s Dong Anh District.

Of the national tally, 1,531 have been discharged from hospitals while 35 others have been reported dead.

The nation is placing 129,098 people under medical surveillance and quarantine nationwide, including 762 at hospitals, 19,476 at concentrated quarantine sites, and 108,860 at places of residence.

In a bid to live safely with the pandemic, people are encouraged to strictly follow the Ministry of Health’s 5K message: khau trang (facemask), khu khuan (disinfection), khoang cach (distance), khong tu tap (no gathering) and khai bao y te (health declaration)./.
