Russian mobile company optimistic about Vietnamese market

VGP - Russia’s mobile service provider Vimpelcom, who owns the trademark Beeline, has made its way into the Vietnamese market.

Vimpelcom founded the partnership with Việt Nam’s telecom group GTel in order to form the GTel–mobile joint-venture in which it holds 40% of shares.

Sergei Zakurayev, GTel-mobile’s marketing director, said to reporters that Vimplelcom has selected the flourishing Southeast Asia to enlarge its overseas markets and that Việt Nam is very attractive to foreign investors.

According to Mr. Zakurayev, the mobile phone market in Việt Nam grows rapidly. There are now six mobile phone service providers operating in Việt Nam.

He was optimistic that Vimplecom will succeed in Việt Nam by offering new GSM technology and good services.

GTel–mobile wants to occupy 20% of Việt Nam’s market share in the next five years. The company plans to kick start its network this year and expand its coverage throughout Việt Nam within three years, according to the company’s marketing director.
