The program aims to facilitate and support businesses’ technological transfer and innovation in order to create high- quality and value-added products.

The program targets to promote technological transfer in favor of agricultural development at rural, mountainous and disadvantaged areas as well as workforce training in the science and technology sector.

By 2025, the rate of firms launching technology innovation is expected to increase by 15% annually, on average while 100% of enterprises manufacturing key products and directly joining this program will form research and development units.

The program also aims to promote labor capacity on the basis of technological innovation, particularly in sectors and areas producing high value-added products or having high export value.

Each economic zone will have at least one model for technological research, application and transfer in line with its specific conditions.

The digital technology business community has strongly developed with nearly 60,000 enterprises and annual revenue of US$120 billion, becoming an important driving force for the development of the business community in Viet Nam.

Viet Nam has set a goal to increase the GDP share of digital economy to 20% by 2025, according to the latest Resolution No. 52-NQ/TW of the Politburo on guidelines for participation in the 4th Industrial Revolution.

The Party expects to raise the broadband Internet coverage rate to 100% (accessible by all communes) and labor productivity by 7% annually from now to 2025.

Viet Nam was ranked 42nd for the second straight year out of 131 world economies in the Global Innovation Index (GII) 2020 rankings.

Viet Nam is among the 10 best-ranked economies in terms of income group, and leads the group of lower-middle income economies, made up of 29 countries.

The nation has been also listed among the top 50 economies that have witnessed remarkable progress in the GII rankings in recent years.
