Politburo member Minh makes the statement at a conference, Ha Noi, November 27, 2020

Politburo member Minh made the statement at a conference in Ha Noi on November 27 to review the five-year implementation of the Politburo’s Directive No. 45/CT-TW on OV affairs in the new context.

The event was attended by leaders and former leaders of the Party and State, and 350 OVs representing more than 5.3 million OVs worldwide.

Minh said that after 35 years of Doi Moi (Renewal) and international integration, Viet Nam has attained significant and prideworthy achievements.

More and more Vietnamese entrepreneurs abroad have returned home to make investment and do business in a number of areas, successfully developing many strong enterprises.

Since 1993, cumulative remittances to Viet Nam has reached about US$175 billion, making the country one of the largest remittance recipients in the world over recent years (according to the World Bank).

The Deputy PM affirmed that the development of the OV community and their important contributions have proved the righteousness of the Party and State’s guidelines and policies on OV affairs, including the Politburo’s Directive No. 45.

In the past five years, the comprehension and implementation of Directive No. 45 has been carried out seriously and synchronously. The policy “OVs are an inseparable part and a resource of the Vietnamese ethnic community” has really come to life. The OV affairs continue to be a pillar in the foreign affairs of the Party and State./.
