More than 2,400 Vietnamese nationals repatriated over last week

VGP – A total number of 2,440 Vietnamese citizens were brought home from Chinese Taipei, Japan, Europe, America, Africa, Australia, Qatar, Russia, Norway and the U.S. from November 8-15, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

As many as 10 flights carrying 2,440 Vietnamese nationals from five continents land in Viet Nam from November 8-16, 2020.

The passengers included children under 18 years old, the elderly, the sick, stranded tourists, students who completed their courses and could not have their visas extended, businessmen, intellectuals and other disadvantaged cases.

Precautious measures were implemented during these flights to prevent transmission of COVID-19.

Right after landing at local airports, all the passengers received check-ups and were sent to concentrated quarantine sites in line with current regulations on COVID-19 responses.

So far, Viet Nam has arranged 195 "rescue" flights to repatriate 55,422 citizens stranded abroad due to COVID-19.

More flights are set to be arranged in the time ahead to repatriate Vietnamese citizens with disadvantaged circumstances, depending on their need and domestic quarantine capacity.

As of November 16 morning, Viet Nam entered the 75th consecutive day without a single community transmitted case of COVID-19, according to the National Steering Committee on COVID-19 Prevention and Control.

Among 1,281 COVID-19 infection cases, 1,103 have recovered and exited hospitals while 35 others have been reported dead.
