Central region forecast to experience medium to heavy rain

VGP – The central provinces from Nghe An to Quang Binh are expected to continue experiencing medium to heavy rains with the precipitation of 30-80mmm, said the National Center for Hydrometeorology Forecasting this afternoon.

A street in Ha Tinh Province is inundated due to heavy rains over the past days.

It is forecast that the eastern part of Nghe An and Ha Tinh will expect rainfall of 100-250mm while some places may see up to 300mm.

Rainfall is expected to reach 148,2 mm and 110,8 respectively in Nghe An’s Hung Nguyen anhd Thanh Chuong districts; 273mm and 342,2mm respectively in Can Loc and Thach Ha district in Ha Tinh.

On Friday morning, the Cabinet held a minute of silence in tribute to flood victims in central region before scrutinizing socio-economic performance in the first ten months this year.

Speaking at the meeting, the Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc emphasized that constant storms in the central region have caused huge losses of life and property this year.

So far, storms have left 230 people dead and missing, many of whom are army officers, including two generals./.
