One more case of COVID-19 confirmed, total rises to 1,145

VGP - One imported case of COVID-19 was confirmed Thursday morning, raising the patient tally to 1,145, according to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control.

Patient 1145 is a 29-year-old-man who returned from Angola and was quarantined upon arrival at Van Don airport in the northern province of Quang Ninh on October 20.

He was admitted to Bac Ninh General Hospital yesterday after his sample test showed that he is positive for SARS-CoV-2.

As of 6 AM on October 22, Viet Nam had recorded 691 local community cases. The country has gone 50 days without community infections.

Up to 1,406 out of 1,145 COVID-19 patients have been recovered and exited hospitals. The fatalities stand at 35.

Nearly 14,000 people who had close contact with COVID-19 patients or came from pandemic-hit areas are now under health surveillance nationwide including 149 at hospitals, 12,000 others at centralized quarantine camps, and the rest at places of residence. /.
