Shrimp exports up 10.5% in nine months

VGP – Shrimp exports in September witnessed a year-on-year increase of 25%, reaching nearly US$385 million, the highest figure recorded since March.

Viet Nam earns US$2.7 billion from exporting shrimps in the first nine months of 2020, a year-on-year increase of 10.5%. 

In September, shrimp exports to key markets increased, including the U.S. up nearly 40%, China up 23%, the EU up 35%, the Republic of Korea up 3.2%, the United Kingdom up 54%, Canada up 47% and Australia up nearly 51%. 

Remarkably, Viet Nam’s shrimp exports to the EU set a new record of US$371 million in nine months, up 2.3% thanks to positive impacts of the EU-Viet Nam Free Trade Agreement. 

The nation earned US$2.7 billion from exporting shrimps in the first nine months of 2020, up 10.5%. 

The U.S. was Viet Nam’s largest shrimp buyer, accounting for nearly 24%. Viet Nam gained US$634 million from exporting shrimp to the U.S., up 33%. 

Shrimp exports in 2020 are expected to pick up 9.8% against the previous year, achieving US$3.7 billion.
