Weekly COVID-19 update

VGP – Viet Nam has confirmed six imported cases of COVID-19 from September 21-27, bringing the patient tally to 1,074, according to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control.

The latest confirmed cases were citizens repatriated from the U.S. and France and quarantined in Ha Noi’s outlying district of Dong Anh and the southern province of Binh Duong upon their arrival.  

So far, Viet Nam has gone through 26 consecutive days without community infections.

Of the country's patient tally, 691 are locally-infected cases, including 551 recorded since the emergence of COVID-19 hot spots in the central city of Da Nang on July 25.

As many as 50 patients were given all-clear over the past week, raising the total number of recoveries to 999.

The death toll remains at 35, mostly elderly people with serious underlying health conditions.

Among the current active patients, three have tested negative for the virus once, four twice and 12 thrice./.
