Law on individual income tax to come into effect on schedule

VGP – The General Department of Taxation (GDT) yesterday issued an official notice confirming that the Law on Individual Income Tax will be put into effect on January 1, 2009 as already scheduled.

There are about 2.5 million individual income tax payers in the first year of enforcing the Law

GDT requires all taxation offices to direct and implement the enforcement of the Law in line with the set plan.

The Department also plans to sufficiently mobilize officials to ensure that the event will be carried out smoothly.

Information work will be further promoted to raise the public awareness of the Law and encourage tax payers to observe it.

According to leaders of the GDT, preparatory work has been promptly conducted in conformity with the plan set by the Central Steering Committee.

So far, many documents have been issued to instruct the enforcement of the Law. The tax registration and tax-code granting are also sped up.

The taxation sector has applied information technology in management, launched special websites and hotlines on individual income tax.

According to the GDT, in the first year of implementing the Law, there are about 2.5 million tax payers.
