Two new COVID-19 cases in Hai Duong, Da Nang confirmed, patient tally increases to 1016

VGP – The National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control on August 23 recorded two more COVID-19 infection cases in Hai Duong Province and Da Nang City, raising the nation’s patient tally to 1016.

Since July 25, 534 COVID-19 cases linked to Da Nang City are recorded.

Patient 1015 is a 44-year old woman in Duy Xuyen, Quang Nam Province.

From August 6-18, she took care of her family member at the Da Nang Hospital and had close contact with patients numbered 996, 997, 998 and 1006.

On August 18, she was sent for medical quarantine.

Three days later, she had fever and was confirmed positive for the virus.

 She has been isolated and treated at Da Nang Lung Hospital.

Patient 1016 is a 33-year old man in Hai Duong City, Hai Duong Province. He had close contact with a previously-announced COVID-19 patient (patient numbered 977) who was linked to a coronavirus hot-spot in Ngo Quyen Street, Hai Duong City.

On August 12, he was quarantined at a centralized camp in Hai Duong.

On August 20, he had his samples taken by the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology and the outcomes released three days later showed that he was positive for SARS-CoV-2.

The patient has been treated at Hai Duong Hospital for Tropical Diseases.

According to the Committee, five more COVID-19 patients were declared clear of the virus on August 23, raising the total numbered of recovered patients to 568, making up 55.9%.

These recovered patients include patient 439 (at Da Nang Lung Hospital), patient 669 (at Dong Nai Lung Hospital) and patients 701, 759 and 926 (at Hoa Vang District Medical Facility).

All of them will be medically monitored at places of residence in the next 14 days.

Viet Nam has announced 27 deaths of COVID-19 so far.

Nearly 77,380 people who have been in close contact with COVID-19 patients or repatriated from the pandemic-stricken areas are under medical surveillance, including 2,095 at hospitals, 19,808 at centralized quarantine facilities, and 50,477 at places of residences.
