VN repatriates 620 citizens from Europe, Latin America, Africa, and Ociania

VGP – A Viet Nam Airline flight carrying over 340 Vietnamese citizens from Australia landed at Tan Son Nhat Airport on August 20.

The rescue flight was conducted by Vietnamese competent agencies, the Vietnamese representative office in Australia, the national flag carrier Viet Nam Airlines, and Australian authorities. 

Passengers were mostly children aged below 18, the elderly, pregnant women, the sick, workers with expired labor contracts, those without residences and other especially disadvantaged cases. 

Due to travel restrictions, the flight landed Sydney and Melbourne to pick up the Vietnamese nationals. 

Upon their arrival, the passengers and flight crew were medically checked and quarantined in accordance with the current regulations on COVID-19 responses.​

The same day, a Viet Nam Airlines flight carrying nearly 280 citizens from European, Latin America and African countries landed at the Ho Chi Minh City-based Tan Son Nhat Airport.

So far, Viet Nam has arranged 107 rescue flights to bring home 27,279 citizens stranded abroad due to COVID-19.
