Addressing the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Nhat said that the project is expected to shorten travel time between areas in the Mekong Delta region and reduce traffic accidents by separating automobiles from other vehicles.

The My Thuan Bridge 2 project is part of the Eastern North-South expressway planned to be built in the 2017-2020 period.

The bridge connects the two expressways of Trung Luong – My Thuan and My Thuan - Can Tho in order to form a complete traffic network from Ho Chi Minh City to Can Tho

It will cost VND5 trillion (US$216 million) sourced from the State budget and is expected to be completed in 2023.

The six-lane bridge has a total length of 6.61 km, including the 1.9km-long bridge and two approach roads with total length of over 4.7km./..
