Seven new COVID-19 cases confirmed, total increases to 983

VGP – The National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control confirmed seven more COVID-19 cases this morning, raising the country's total patients to 983.

Since July 25, Viet Nam records 505 COVID-19 infection cases linked to Da Nang City.

The latest patients include three in Quang Nam Province, two in Hai Duong Province, one in Ha Noi and one imported case.

Patients 977 and 978, both aged 46, are residents in Hai Duong Province. They are linked to the COVID-19 hotspot in Ngo Quyen Street where seven other COVID-19 infection cases had been confirmed.

They have been isolated and treated at Hai Duong Hospital for Tropical Diseases.

Patient 979 is a 33-year old woman in Ha Noi. She visited Da Nang City from July 22-25 and isolated herself home after returning from the central city.

On August 16, she had her sample tested by the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology and the outcomes released on the following day showed that she was positive for the virus.

Patient 980 is a 37-year old woman in Quang Ngai Province. On August 15, she took the flight VJ7816 from the Philippines to Can Tho International Airport.

The patient was sent for medical quarantine upon her arrival and has been admitted to the Can Tho Tuberculosis and Lung Disease Hospital.

Patients 981-983 are aged from 15-90, including one who was admitted to the Da Nang Hospital and the others came in contact with the previously-announced COVID-19 patients.

All of them have been treated at Quang Nam General Hospital.

According to the Committee, among 983 COVID-19 patients in Viet Nam, 467 were declared clear of the virus, according to 47.5%.

The nation has recorded 24 coronavirus-related deaths so far./.
