VN has conducted over 482,000 Realtime PCR tests

VGP - The Viet Nam Public Health Emergency Operation Center (PHEOC) reported that the country has so far conducted a total of 482,456 Realtime PCR tests nationwide.

The figure includes 10,578 tests out of 13,124 samples collected in the central city of Da Nang - a newly-emerged Covid-19 epicenter in Viet Nam.

The city’s authorities are working closely with experts from the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology, Pasteur Institute HCM City, Pasteur Institute of Nha Trang to test 10,000 samples daily.

The nation’s testing capacity has been doubled compared to the peak period in April 2020, said acting Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long.

As of 6 am on Monday, the country confirmed 621 cases of COVID-19 and six deaths, according to the National Steering Committee on COVID-19 Prevention and Control.

After 99 consecutive days without a single community infection case, Viet Nam has confirmed 205 new Covid-19 cases, of whom 174 are linked to Da Nang City.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on July 27 allowed Da Nang to implement social distancing according to Directive No. 16/CT-TTg dated March 31, 2020 to contain the outbreak.

The Government chief also tasked the Ministry of National Defense and border localities to strengthen border control while the Ministry of Public Security is responsible for investigating and prosecuting those who try to bring foreigners to Viet Nam illegally.

People are recommended to wear masks in public places, wash hands with soap or alcohol-based hand sanitizer, avoid mass gatherings, and keep a safety distance of at least 1 meter from each other./.
