One more Covid-19 case confirmed, total rises to 621

VGP – The National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control confirmed one new Covid-19 case this morning, bringing the patient tally to 621, including 373 recoveries.

The latest patient a 60-year old woman in Binh Son District, Quang Ngai Province.

She was a patient caretaker at the Da Nang Hospital from July 18-22. On July 31, she developed symptoms of cough and fever and had her sample collected the following day.

Of the country’s patient tally, 174 have been reported to have links with Da Nang City since July 25.

At present, the 103,268 people are being placed under medical surveillance and quarantine, including 878 at hospitals, 14,852 at centralized quarantine facilities, and 87,538 at places of residence.

At a meeting on Sunday, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc demanded prosecution of all illegal entrants, especially those who try to bring foreigners into Viet Nam illegally amid swift developments of Covid-19 in Da Nang.

The Government chief tasked the Ministry of Health, Ministry of National Defense, Ministry of Public Security and provincial People’s Committees nationwide to tighten border control.

Phuc also ordered drastic inspection of residential areas as competent forces have found and quarantined dozens of foreign nationals illegally residing there.
