The MoU signing took place within the framework of the Viet Nam Energy Summit 2020 that was held in Ha Noi on the same day.

As the world’s leading investors and project developer in the field of offshore wind power, CIP has mobilised more than US$10 billion from investment funds worldwide for renewable energy projects.

With a potential capacity of up to 3.5GW, the La Gan project is one of the first large-scale offshore wind power projects in Viet Nam.

It is expected to enhance the country’s regional and international position in the area of renewable energy development.

Danish Ambassador to Viet Nam Kim Højlund Christensen said that through cooperation projects between the Danish Energy Agency and the Viet Nam Electricity and Renewable Energy Authority, Viet Nam has been found to possess 160GW of offshore wind power capacity, thus becoming one of the most promising markets in the field.

He suggested Viet Nam learn from other countries’ experience to fully tap into the benefits brought about by offshore wind power.

Denmark wishes to continue sharing its knowledge, know-how and technological advances to support Viet Nam’s transition to a green economy in the most cost-effective manner, the diplomat said.

Michael Hannibal, a founding member of CIP, stated that CIP is committed to continue working with local partners to turn this project into an example of a successful technology transfer project in parallel with the optimal utilization of local resources and expertise./.
