Of the total figure, 350 have been cleared of the virus while the remaining patients include 15 active cases, according to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control.

The nation is putting 11.009 people, who have been in close contact with COVID-19 cases or come from the pandemic-hit areas, under medical surveillance, said the committee.

Though Viet Nam has successfully contained the pandemic, the ministry of health still warned of the virus importation risk as some people have illegally returned via borderline or escaped from centralized quarantine camps.

Speaking at a recent meeting on COVID-19 response, acting Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long urged the border provinces to tighten border management./.
