VN repatriates nearly 300 nationals from Russia

The mission was jointly conducted by Vietnamese competent agencies, Vietnamese representative offices in Russia, and the national flag carrier Viet Nam Airlines.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) reported that the passengers included under 18-year-old children, the elderly, sick persons, pregnant women and workers whose labor contracts had expired.

Due to complicated disease developments in Russia, the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia worked closely with competent agencies to finalize procedures and direct Vietnamese citizens to move from Vladivostok, Ekaterinburg, Saint Petersburg, and surrounding localities to Moscow International Airport.

Precautious measures were implemented throughout the flight and all the passengers and the crew members were medically checked and quarantined upon arrival after landing at Can Tho International Airport.

This is the 37th repatriation flight arranged since April 24, transporting about 10,070 passengers stranded abroad due to COVID-19 pandemic, official data showed.

As of Thursday morning, Viet Nam had 369 COVID-19 patients, including 347 recovered cases, said the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control.

A total of 13,322 people are under medical surveillance or quarantined including 95 at hospitals, 12,807 at centralized quarantine camps, and 420 at places of residence, according to the committee led by Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam./.
