The General Statistics Office said that prices of three key categories of goods all went down, namely houses and building materials down 2.36%, food and catering services 0.13%, and transport and post services 6.77%.

Hà Nội and Cần Thơ saw the sharpest CPI decreases, 1.3% and 1.38% respectively. They were followed by Đà Nẵng (0.93%), Vĩnh Long (0.9%) and Thừa Thiên-Huế (0.84%).

In Hồ Chí Minh City, CPI continued to fall by 0.42% in the third consecutive month.

Next year, the Government will further realize its flexible policies to maintain sustainable economic development and prevent the recurrence of inflation.

According to economic experts, to stimulate consumption, it is necessary to reduce goods prices. So, CPI decrease is a good sign for the Government’s stimulation plan.
