British pilot recovering well, no new community cases in 76 straight days

VGP – The British pilot, the most critically ill COVID-19 patient in Viet Nam ( patient numbered 91) is recovering very well and will be soon coming back to his homeland, the National Steering Committee said on early Wednesday. 

The patient has gone 115 days of treatment in Viet Nam in both the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Ho Chi Minh City and Cho Ray Hospital. 

He has been disconnected from a mechanical ventilation machine for 19 days and showed normal indicators and good recovery. He can make verbal communications well and have good sleep at night. 

He has gone comprehensive physical rehabilitation before being discharged from hospital and return home. 

As of early July 1, Viet Nam has entered the 76th day without recording any new COVID-19 infection case in the community. 

As many as 215 imported cases were sent for medical quarantine upon their arrival. 

Among 355 COVID-19 patients in Viet Nam, 335 have been cleared of the virus and recovered, making up 94.4%. 

The other 20 active patients have been treated at medical facilities nationwide with stable health, of whom four were tested negative for the first time, five tested negative for second time and above and only 11 positive for the virus. 

At present, 12,580 people, who have been in close contact with COVID-19 patients or came from the pandemic-stricken areas, are under medical surveillance, including 96 at hospitals, 11,596 at centralized quarantine facilities, and 888 at places of residence.
