Vietjet opens eight domestic routes connected to Da Nang

Accordingly, Vietjet on Thursday announced the opening of eight new domestic routes, five of which links Da Nang with Phu Quoc Island off southern Kien Giang Province, Da Lat City in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong, Vinh City in north-central Nghe An Province, north-central Thanh Hoa Province, and Buon Ma Thuot City in the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak.

The three other routes are Hai Phong-Quy Nhon, Ha Noi-Dong Hoi, and Vinh-Phu Quoc.

Vice-chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Le Trung Chinh said the new services will help attract more visitors to Da Nang and beef up domestic tourism following the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) epidemic.

Da Nang has been well known to both Vietnamese and international tourists, with the number of visitors increasing by an average of 16% each year.

Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, there were 31 international routes and 11 domestic routes linking the city with other locations in Viet Nam and the world.

However, the city’s tourist sector has been hit hard by the epidemic.

“Local authorities are working with Vietnamese airlines to carry out tourism promotion programs," Chinh said.

"The five new routes play an important role in boosting tourism in the city."

Speaking at the 2020 Ho Chi Minh City Domestic Tourism Promotion Conference has held, Vietjet’s director of international sales and distribution, Jay L Lingeswara, said: “Together with government authorities and travel companies, Vietjet has quickly resumed all of its domestic flight network with many significant promotion programs to bring travellers back to attractive destinations across VietNam.”

With 53 domestic routes, Vietjet now operates the largest domestic flight network, bringing general travelers and tourists to their dream destinations on the airline’s green flights, meeting all passengers’ needs with diverse and flexible flight schedules.
