The tourism hub earned VND 2.7 trillion (US$ 116 million) in revenue within the reviewed period.

The number of tourists gradually bounced back, especially at weekends.

The Quang Ninh Department of Tourism reported that in the first half of May, Ha Long Bay alone welcomed nearly 100 travelers on weekdays and over 1,000 visitors at weekends, equivalent to one tenth of that of the pre-COVID-19 pandemic period.

The local authorities resumed tourism operation since May 1 after properly combating the outbreak.

The province has launched a stimulus package worth 200 billion VND to boost travel demand. It offered free admission to visitors to the World’s Heritage Site Ha Long Bay, Quang Ninh Museum, and the Complex of Yen Tu Monuments and Landscape in May and is giving discounts to those visiting these sites during June and July.

Lately, Quang Ninh introduced new and high-quality tourism products such as Yoko Onsen Quang Hanh – the first Japan-style onsen resort in Viet Nam - and five-star express boat from Tuan Chau to the islands of Co To and Minh Chau./.
