PM Phuc, French counterpart discuss COVID-19 fight, bilateral ties over phone

VGP – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and French counterpart Edouard Philippe discussed on COVID-19 fight and bilateral cooperation over the phone on Thursday.

The two leaders spoke highly of the positive developments of the Viet Nam-France strategic partnership in such fields like politics, economy, trade, healthcare, environment, education and tourism among others.

The pair underlined the need that both countries should continue exchanges to reach measures to further deepen the bilateral ties.

PM Edouard highly valued Viet Nam’s efforts in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, expressing thanks to the Government, localities, organizations and individuals in Viet Nam for having donated medical supplies to his country, which manifest  the sentiments and solidarity between the two nations.

Meanwhile, PM Phuc affirmed Viet Nam stands ready to cooperate with France and other partners to overcome this hard time caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

He informed that the Legislature has passed the Viet Nam-EU trade and investment deals which are expected to give a strong boost to trade and investment ties between Viet Nam and the EU in general and between Viet Nam and France in particular.

The two PMs were pleased at the sides’ close coordination at multilateral forums like the United Nations, ASEAN-EU, and ASEAN-France while comparing notes on regional and international issues of common concerns.

They vowed to continue working closely not only in fighting the current COVID-19 pandemic but also in realizing sustainable development goals, adapting to climate change, maintaining security and peace, and ensuring respect for international law across regions, including the East Viet Nam Sea./.
