Gov’t mulls over resumption of int’l commercial flights in cautious manner

VGP – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has assigned the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control to figure out criteria defining "safe" regions and areas to which international commercial passenger flights could be gradually resumed.

June 10, 2020 9:50 PM GMT+7

Such regions/areas could be those without new COVID-19 community infection for 30 days in a row, the Government chief suggested.

The regions/areas might be Guangzhou, Chinese Taipei, Seoul, Tokyo, etc., he added.

The PM also asked for introduction of quarantine instructions for passengers onboard such flights.

For Vietnamese nationals, including students, the elderly, and tourists stranded abroad, Phuc tasked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to work out concrete repatriation criteria and open channels for registration.

The Ministry of Transport was assigned to direct airlines to increase frequency of flights to bring citizens home on the basis of the nation’s quarantine capacity.

PM Phuc asked the Ministry of National Defense to continue arranging centralized quarantine facilities for new incoming entrants./.
