The passengers are students who have completed their study courses, children under 18 including new-born babies, pregnant women, the elderly, patients with chronic diseases, tourists and workers whose visas had expired.

Over the recent weeks, Viet Nam’s representative agencies in North Europe coordinated with the host competent authorities to help overseas Vietnamese register the flight and instruct them to travel to airports.

After landing at Ha Noi-based Noi Bai International Airport, all the passengers and crew members received health check-ups and were quarantined in line with the country's regulations.

Official data showed Viet Nam has conducted 19 special flights to bring home about 5,661 citizens from foreign countries and territories since April 24 and more repatriation flights are expected in the coming time.

As of Saturday morning, Viet Nam had 329 COVID-19 infection cases, including 189 imported cases, said the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control.

Of the patient tally, 307 patients have been freed of the virus, the committee added./.
