Gov't issues action program for customer protection

VGP – The Government has issued an action program to implement Directive 30/CT-TW on strengthening Party leadership and State management responsibility in consumer protection (Directive 30).

The program rolls out specific tasks and solutions to build a healthy business environment; convert customer protection demands and aspiration into business responsibilities, impetus, and competitiveness especially domestic ones; create safe and sustainable consumption environment. 

The tasks and solutions include strengthening state management responsibilities on protection of customer rights; perfecting legal framework and specialized apparatus on customer right protection; disseminating policies and laws on the field; reinforcing investigations and supervision of infringements on consumer rights; boosting social engagement and responsibilities of organizations, individuals, and businesses on the fields; actively spurring international integration within ASEAN and international arena. 

The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) was asked to tighten management and minimize poor quality goods and services which would cause damage to customers. 

The Ministry of Science and Technology was assigned to work with the MoIT, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, and relevant ministries and agencies to perfect legal framework and mechanisms on establishment and operation of accreditation organizations in charge of analyzing, testing, and assessing goods and service quality; and to issue criteria and standards to control goods and service quality especially essential ones. 

Provincial and municipal People’s Committees are responsible for issuing annual plans and programs on investigations and inspections of customer rights encroachment./.
