One COVID-19 patient transferred to HCMC hospital due to deteriorating lung conditions

VGP – Female patient 278 has been transferred from Bac Lieu General Hospital to Ho Chi Minh City Hospital for Tropical Diseases after her health conditions deteriorate, according to HCMC-based hospital director Nguyen Vinh Chau.

Chau said the patient, who returned to Viet Nam from the United Arab Emirates on May 3, got pneumonia and respiratory distress.

She coughed a lot and developed high fever this morning but her blood pressure remained stable, the doctor added.

The woman, aged 50, is among 279 passengers landing in Viet Nam on Viet Nam Airlines' flight VN0088, of whom 17 were confirming having the virus on May 7 and have been treated at the Bac Lieu General Hospital.

Though the COVID-19 pandemic continues evolving complicatedly around the world, the Vietnamese Government is taking cautious steps to repatriate citizens stranded abroad, thus new infection cases may be inevitable.

More than 880 citizens have returned home from three different countries over the past four days and all of them were sent to centralized quarantine camps upon arrival to ensure public health safety.

As of 6:10 pm on Monday, the total number of COVID-19 infection cases remained unchanged at 288, including 148 imported cases.

Of the patient tally, 249 have been cleared of the virus and exited hospitals while the current active cases are being treated at six medical facilities across the nation.

As many as 25,361 people are being quarantined due to close contact with infected cases or coming from the pandemic-hit areas./.
