As many as 232 patients have recovered from the virus so far while the rest are being treated at centrally-run and provincial medical facilities. Most of them are in stable conditions.

In addition, 34,097 are being quarantined or medically monitored, of whom 245 stay at hospitals, 10,293 at other quarantine camps and 23,559 at places of residence.

Of the current active cases, 12 had tested negative for the virus as of May 6 morning, and nine negative at least twice.

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc ordered prompt resumption of socio-economic activities after drastic measures have helped push back COVID-19 outbreaks.

Though the International Monetary Fund had forecasted that the Vietnamese economy may enjoy the highest growth in Southeast Asia this year, with 2.7%, PM Phuc called for doubling efforts to achieve growth rate of 5% in order to ease pressure on job creation, poverty reduction and social security guarantee.

He also challenged authorities to keep inflation below 4% and disburse VND700 trillion (US$29.7 billion) of public investment capital this year./.
