Viet Nam has gone 19 days without new community transmission case of COVID-19, thus the resuming socio-economic activities becomes the urgent task now, said the Government chief at the Cabinet meeting on Tuesday.

Though the International Monetary Fund had forecasted that the Vietnamese economy may enjoy the highest growth in Southeast Asia this year, with 2.7%, PM Phuc called for doubling efforts to achieve growth rate of 5% in order to ease pressure on job creation, poverty reduction and social security guarantee.

He also challenged authorities to keep inflation below 4% and disburse VND700 trillion (US$29.7 billion) of public investment capital this year.

As reported earlier, the Cabinet members deliberated on a draft resolution concerning major tasks and solutions to continue removing difficulties for production and business, promoting the public investment disbursement, and ensuring social order and safety amid the COVID-19 pandemic./.
