British pilot tested negative for COVID-19, remains in critical conditions

VGP – British pilot, who was confirmed the 91st COVID-19 patient in Viet Nam, has tested negative for the virus over the past four days but still remained in critical conditions.

The man, aged 43, has been put on life support machine called extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), according to Dr. Nguyen Van Vinh Chau, Director of the Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Ho Chi Minh City.

Lung ultrasound scan shows pneumothorax on his right lung and doctors have to filter his blood, according to the Ministry of Health.

Hospitalized since March 18, he is one of the three sickest COVID-19 patients in Viet Nam.

Other two sickest cases are patients numbered 19 and 161.

Patient 19 has been treated for nearly two months due to complicated health conditions and is getting better.

Meanwhile patient 161 is a 88-year old woman from Hung Yen Province.

On March 25, doctors at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases found that her lung was damaged.

As her lung got worse on March 28, she was taken to extensive care unit where doctor put her on ventilator./.
