The 2-year project was designed to encourage enterprises to take greater social and environmental responsibilities, through humanitarian and environmental clean-up activities.

The project also urges enterprises to abide by ten global principles in human rights, labor standards, environment and anti-corruption when outlining their business strategies and conducting production activities.

Humanitarian activities are also part of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategies.

UNDP’s Deputy Country Director Christophe Bahuet told at the singing ceremony that Vietnamese enterprises, through taking full responsibility, both socially and environmentally, can win greater trust of consumers and raise their prestige, so as to ensure sustainable development amidst increasing global competitiveness.

The project seeks to introduce CSR-related studies and training programs to Vietnamese universities. It also aims to improve cooperation among Việt Nam’s relevant agencies to help enterprises develop their own CSR strategies.

The project is assisted by the United Nations Global Compact, the world’s largest voluntary organization which was established in Việt Nam last year and now involves 4,000 enterprises from 116 countries.
