VN initially succeeds in containing COVID-19 outbreaks

VGP – Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam said Viet Nam has initially contained COVID-19 outbreaks while chairing a meeting on Monday morning.

Deputy PM Dam, who is  head of the Steering Committee on COVID-19 Prevention and Control, expressed his gratitude to countrymen for their cooperation in and contributions to the fight against the COVID-19, even sacrificing economic benefits and personal conveniences. 

So far, nation reported 241 positive cases, ranking 96th in the world in terms of the the infection tally, and is one of the three countries with over 200 infection cases but no fatality. 

Despite positive signals, there still remain the risk of community transmission in Viet Nam due to complicated developments of the pandemic on global scale, according to Deputy Minister of Health Do Xuan Tuyen. 

Tuyen called on localities to seriously implement the central directions, especially the PM’s Directive No. 16 which set out Viet Nam’s strongest measures for COVID-19 containment./.
