The two sides agreed to work together in accelerating the implementation of high-ranking agreements, especially those made during PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng’s visit to Indonesia in August 2007. Accordingly, the two sides agreed to finish the drafting of the Action Program to realize the Joint Declaration signed in 2003 on the Framework of Friendly and Comprehensive Partnership Entering the 21st Century as well as join hands in putting into reality the foreign ministerial-level strategic reference channel in order to build up the strategic partnership between the two countries. The two sides also discussed the further cooperation in agriculture, petroleum, tourism, demarcation of exclusive economic zones and collaboration in dealing with fisherman-related issues.

The two sides reached a consensus to deepen their coordination within ASEAN to consolidate solidarity and cooperation for common goals and to establish a cooperative regime in the United Nations when the two countries function as non-permanent members of the UN Security Council in 2008.
