The move was made as countries and territories around the world have been applying strong measures in recent days to curb the spread of COVID-19.

In the region, many ASEAN countries have implemented restrictions on entry and exit at different levels. Cambodia has suspended entry for Vietnamese nationals, starting 11.59pm on March 20. Meanwhile, Laos has imposed suspension of entry on all individuals at international border gates across the country from March 30 to April 19.

Earlier, the Lao Government also closed all its main border gates and sub-border gates with Viet Nam from March 19 to April 20.

The Vietnamese Government's latest decision aims to ensure the optimal efficiency of anti-epidemic measures in the country.

This decision has been informed to the Cambodian and Lao Embassies in Viet Nam, according to the Vietnamese Foreign Ministry.

Viet Nam wishes to receive cooperation from the Lao and Cambodian governments, and will continue working closely with countries in the region and the world to promptly control and beat such a dangerous pandemic./.
