More than VND400 bln raised for COVID-19 prevention work

VGP – More than VND400 billion (around US$17 million) have been mobilized for COVID-19 prevention and control work after Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc called for generousity from people from all walks of life to join the fight against COVID-19.

As of March 24, the COVID-19 prevention and control fund has collected nearly VND340 billion from agencies, businesses and individuals and VND62 billion who contributed via SMS messages through the National Humanitarian Portal 1400. 

President of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Central Committee Tran Thanh Man said that the contributions of agencies, organizations, businesses and people have manifested the solidarity of all Vietnamese people in struggling against the COVID-19 pandemic. 

These contributions will be transferred to the Ministry of Health for purchasing medical equipment, necessities and support COVID-19 patients and those undergoing quarantine.

Earlier on March 19, a text message campaign to call for public support for the country’s fight against COVID-19 was launched in Ha Noi.

The campaign is taking place from March 19 to June 18, 2020.
Supporters can join the program by texting “CV n” to 1407, of which “n” is the number of support. Each text message will contribute at least VND20,000 (US$0.86) to the fund. 

As of early March 25, the Ministry of Health confirmed 11 more COVID-19 infection cases, including three foreign nationals, raising the total number of patients to 134.

Of the total infection cases confirmed so far in Viet Nam, 118 cases have been reported since March 6. As many as 17 patients have recovered and exited hospitals./.
