Information related to first 4 COVID-19 infections in Ha Noi

VGP - The following is background information related to the first four COVID-19 infection cases in Ha Noi in an effort to prevent spread of the virus to communities.

Nguyen Hong Nhung, aged 26, address: No. 125, Truc Bach Street, Ba Dinh District (the first infection case in Ha Noi)

27-year old man, address: No. 113, Truc Bach Street, Ba Dinh District (her family’s driver)

64-year old woman, address: No. 125, Truc Bach Street, Ba Dinh, (her aunt)

61-year old man, address. No. 7 Nguyen Khac Nhu (sat next to Nhung on same flight VN0054 from UK to Viet Nam on March 2)

People in close contact with Nhung

130 people have been in contact with Nhung

226 people have been in contact with the aforesaid 130

Countermeasures by Ha Noi authorities

Conduct COVID-19 tests for 53 people

Investigate, localize and block Nhung’s residential areas with 66 households and 189 people

20 people in close contact with Nhung have been quarantined at the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases

* Chairman of the Ha Noi Municipal People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung on Sunday said the city medical facilities can provide as many as 2,000 tests daily.

Total 217 passengers and crew members

Authorities have identified 176 out of total 180 passengers. Of the identified people, 41 stayed in Ha Noi and then moved to other places.

Latest information on foreign passengers

As of 7:30 pm on Sunday, the Ministry of Health reported 9 more COVID-19 infection cases, bringing the total patients in Viet Nam to 30.

All of the latest patients were on the same flight VN0054 of Viet Nam Airlines with the city’s first COVID-19 patient, 26-year old woman, who returned to Viet Nam from the UK on March 2. 

All the new patients are foreigners, including 4 in the northern province of Quang Ninh, 2 in the northern province of Lao Cai, and 2 in the central coastal city of Da Nang, and one in central coastal province of Thua Thien-Hue.

As of 8:20 pm: They include 7 from Britian, one from Mexico, and one from Ireland, aged between 58-74, according to the Ministry of Health.

As of 7:30 pm on Monday, the Ministry of Health reported the 8th British man tested positive for the virus.

The 49-year old man has been treated at Bac Quang Nam Hospital in the central province of Quang Nam with reportedly stable health condition./.
